01 Dec

Whether you live in a place like Kalispell, Montana, or a metropolis like New York City, there is something about the Old West that inspires us. It’s always been that way right? Perhaps it is the rugged nature of the wilderness that is somehow beautiful in its own way. Maybe it is the history of the region that calls us back to a simpler time. It could even be the nostalgic reminder of entire communities developed by those who had the courage to head west and make it work.

Who knows, there is just something about the big skies and wide open spaces of the rugged Old West that expands us as people. Why not put a piece of that inspiration in your home or office? Coachella Valley. Before it was known for glitz, glamour and a respite for Hollywood celebrities, Coachella was known for being wild and untamed. This map speaks to the rigged nature of the region, while giving head nods to a more modern time period.

You can almost hear the cowboys call out to the cattle herd if you stare at this piece long enough. It is inspiring.

Gotha Southwest 1872. This is one of my favorites because of the cartographer, Adolf Steiler was known for his detail and this map has plenty of it. He was a firm believer in placing as much information on a map as possible. Because of that, we have a stunning piece of Old West history. Simply beautiful.
